Finished Friday (March & April ‘25)

I decided to conflate March and April’s projects as I’ve been pretty busy travelling and so haven’t had much time to finish any projects (only cast new ones on…)

Everyday Socks

I finished my mum’s socks! And they match mine! I learned from a lot of the mistakes I made from making my own ‘C’ pair (e.g., not doing a swatch and so making them far too small) plus learned how to do duplicate stitch so I could put our initials on our pairs so they could be differentiated (although the aforementioned size difference is probably enough of an indicator). I used up the yarn leftover from my socks to make my mum’s pair (Filcolana Arwetta) and even now I still have some leftover, so I think they’ll have to go towards some great stash-busting project which I will get to one day.

Mayfield Mitts

For my first foray into fair isle/colourwork knitting, they’re really not bad! I erred on the side of having tension that was too loose, and it’s definitely obvious in some areas which look quite lumpy or have loose stitches, but I was more concerned about puckering which I have suffered from before. After I started knitting one mitt I saw some Ravelry posters saying that they made one mitt after the other, and in doing so, one mitt ended up way bigger/smaller than the other. My pair are definitely sisters and not twins but they are fortunately more or less the same size, so I’m glad I could at least maintain tension for that!!!
